This two-piece extension tube set from Meike makes the small world bigger, ideal for macro photography. An extension tube is placed between your lens and your camera. This allows you to get closer to your subject and enlarge the image. An extension tube is hollow; there's no lens system inside, so it doesn't affect the quality of your lens. Extension tubes work best with a telephoto lens. All your camera's automatic functions are retained. The set consists of two separate parts that can be used independently or together. This way, you can choose from 10mm, 16mm, or 26mm, allowing you to get progressively closer to your subject.
How does an extension ring work?
An extension tube creates a greater distance between the camera's image sensor and the rear lens of the lens. This shortens the lens's focal distance, allowing you to focus closer to the subject. This results in a larger image of the subject projected onto the sensor than would be the case without an extension tube. An extension tube therefore increases the lens's natural magnification factor. You can calculate this with the following formula: maximum magnification factor with extension tube = lens magnification factor + (mm extension tube : focal length).
